Sherpa Music Vol 14. This Summer

When I think about summer, i think about the ocean.

I think about beaches from Jones to Squibnocket. I think about a noisy fan blowing hot New York summer air at me all night in the small, un-air-conditioned bedroom of my youth. I think about the boardwalk in Asbury Park, and the smell of fresh waffles about to get hit with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. I think about the restoring power of swimming across a cold lake in the Midwest.

This summer I think about the pleasure of seeing unmasked faces, hugging friends and family, and the knowledge that we made it through scary times. This summer we need a well-deserved break. Time to revel in the joys of summer.

This is a summer of our renewal and release. A time to breathe, to cautiously step out in the world again. It’s a time to be grateful that we made it, and optimistic that the good and truth will prevail.

These are songs that sound like summer, songs about summer, songs of summer’s past, and brand-new songs that will sneak into our memories of this summer.

Take this soundtrack with you to the beach, have it accompany your backyard barbecue, or put it on in the background as you create something beautiful for you and those you cherish.

Come on this journey. It starts with a plea for sanctuary and leaves us up on the roof.

Be well, stay safe. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Jim
